We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Life Kitchen, a cookery initiative that offers free cookery classes across the UK for people living with cancer.
About 80% of people undergoing chemotherapy find that the treatment robs them of their ability to taste. This not only makes food unpalatable for them, it takes away one of the pleasures of life. Founded by Ryan Riley, and with the help of pioneering research from Professor Barry Smith of the University of London - a world authority in taste and the senses - Life Kitchen creates recipes and holds cookery classes to help those living with cancer to experience the comfort and delight of flavour again.
To celebrate the start of the Life Kitchen and Duck & Waffle partnership, we’re launching a special collaborative menu item: Spiced Duck Doughnut with Charred Pineapple Jam with a portion of each sale going to Life Kitchen.
Available from 4th July, this specially designed dish takes inspiration from the signature Duck & Waffle doughnut combined with the famous pineapple tacos from the Life Kitchen classes. It uses strong flavours such as pineapple and paprika which, according to Life Kitchen, engages the trigeminal nerve which connects your eyes, nose and mouth.

On the following dates we’ll also be hosting the first free Life Kitchen class in our private dining room at Duck & Waffle:
16th January 2019
A total of twelve guests-six people currently undergoing cancer treatment, each with a guest-will enjoy culinary teachings from Executive Chef Tom Cenci.
To book your place in the class, email firstname.lastname@example.org. If we are unable to accomodate, we’ll add your name to a waitlist for future Life Kitchen X Duck & Waffle cookery classes!
